DES_Photomag is an independent, non-profit photography platform and printed publication dedicated to discovering and promoting emerging and established photographic talent.
Editorial Vision
DES_Photomag is guided by an editorial approach that prioritises strong bodies of work over individual images.
We believe photography gains meaning through context, sequencing, and dialogue, whether in print, exhibitions, or digital formats. Our curation process is slow by design, allowing space for reflection, coherence, and editorial responsibility.
Ethos & Principles
Talent over ego - We value the work before the persona. Recognition at DES_Photomag is based on photographic quality, coherence, and intent - not popularity or online presence.
Curated excellence - DES_Photomag operates through a curated model. Selection is deliberate and selective, aiming to maintain editorial consistency and respect for the photographers involved.
Apolitical space - While photography often engages with social realities, DES_Photomag remains independent of political agendas, prioritising artistic and documentary integrity.
The value of print - In an increasingly digital landscape, we believe in the enduring value of printed matter. Our publications are conceived as physical objects, designed to be revisited over time.
The Project Today
Today, DES_Photomag brings together a global community of photographers, editors, and collaborators from more than 40 countries.
The project includes a quarterly printed magazine (TopBest), special editorial publications, an itinerant exhibition programme, and a curated gallery of fine art prints.
Community & Collaboration
DES_Photomag is sustained by a volunteer-based effort and by the support of its community.
We collaborate with photographers, writers, curators, and cultural partners who share our values and believe in slow, thoughtful photographic practice.
Editorial Direction
Founded by photographer Andrés Gonzalez, DES_Photomag is supported by a network of collaborators contributing to its editorial, curation, design, and production processes.
